A warm and dry weekend currently on-going. Many locations will be having closing day festivities on Sunday and the weather should be warm with some increasing clouds. A chance of a few showers on Monday with weak moisture streaming in.
The more prominent system will arrive on Tuesday with snow developing in the high elevations by afternoon. This is not a particularly cold system, so snow will be dense in nature. How much we see is still in doubt. GEFS ensembles still all over the place with anywhere from 0.2″ to 1.5″ of liquid:
I’d say the most likely scenario is 0.5-1.0″ of liquid which would be about 5-10″ of snowfall in the Cottonwoods. The time of this system would drop the snow Tuesday afternoon into Tuesday evening. This probably means the best skiing/boarding would be Wednesday morning, but it could shift to Tuesday afternoon if the front pushes in a bit earlier.
It looks like another system will push in on Thursday with mountain snow showers continuing, although accumulations should be minor.
Remember, this week, the only resorts open are Brighton and Snowbird. Or, you can venture into the backcountry….
