Showery Saturday

Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 6:23 am

Popcorn snow showers will pop up again today with daytime heating–this time aided by a weak disturbance.  Same thing will happen tomorrow.  Accumulations should remain on the light side with only about 1-4″ above 7000 feet.  By Monday we will clear out and start to warm up under strong high pressure.

By next weekend the ridge will shift west and a few weak systems will pass just to our north.  At this point it doesn’t look like anything major, but we will experience just a bit of a cool down from the warm temps earlier in the week.  Winter seems to be winding down . . .

It’s in a moderate phase 3, which is a favorable phase (at least during winter months). And the past 10 days have been awesome, but the mjo position is no guarantee of troughing along the west coast. Right now, winter is fighting a losing battle with summer, that’s all. We’ll surely get a few more storms in before all is said and done…
