Potential for accumulating snow later this week across Northern Utah…

Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 3:52 pm

Sunday… Ridge will be in place strong over the area with moderate inversion for the valleys keeping temps at lower elevations in the low 50 whereas the mountains will be above the inversion and likely see temps similar to valley temps in upper 40s to near 50.

Monday… Dry front will brush the area picking up breezes, adding a few clouds, and cooling temps 5-10 degrees or so.

Tuesday… Ridge will rebuild with temps rebounding.  Mostly sunny skies on Tuesday.

Wednesday – Thursday… Low pressure system will drop into the area out of the Northwest.  Snow showers and light-moderate accumulations possible.

Thursday Night/Friday… Chance for snow showers as low pressure center moves east through the area.

Hope everybody had an awesome holiday!  Good news to report as earlier indications of a ridge dominating the area for the foreseeable future are only partly true.  Ridge will retrograde this week allowing for systems to drop into the area later this week (similar to the storms earlier this month).  Models still having a difficult time with these features but it looks like we’ll have at least a chance for snowfall later this work week.  Ridge may rebuild next weekend…. Stay tuned!
