10-day Snow Forecast:
Sunday night/Monday, November 6-7:
- Above 6K feet, 1-3 inches (3-5 inches in Cottonwoods)
- Benches, up to 1 inch
- Valley Floor, Trace possible
- Above 6k feet, Moderate to heavy accumulations possible
An elongated trough will move into the area, with the majority of the precip too deep (south) of the Wasatch Front. Cold pool will be over northern Utah tonight and tomorrow and associated moisture will likely generate light scattered snow showers. Snow totals listed above may be a bit generous. Weather will gradually clear on Monday with a strong ridge taking control of the area through Friday.
Trough approaches on Friday from the west as a series of Pacific storms prepares to move into the area. There is still a great deal of model uncertainty between the Euro and the GFS, with the GFS again taking a lot of the precip south of the area as the initial cut-off low ejects inland. However the Euro is much more favorable for significant precip for the area with the initial wave.
Details are very vague at this point but the screaming message is that more snow is on it’s way… we just need to iron out exactly when and how much. More details to come during the week.
